Super Metro wins temporary reprieve as NTSA suspension stayed

Public transport operator Super Metro Sacco Limited has won a temporary reprieve to resume operations.

This follows the Transport Licensing Appeals Board (TLAB) issuing an order staying the suspension of its operations by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

In an order issued on Monday, TLAB Chairman Adrian Kamotho certified Super Metro’s appeal as urgent and directed that the matter be heard on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 2:30 PM.

The ruling follows Super Metro’s appeal against NTSA’s decision, dated March 18, 2025, which had suspended its operations as a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operator. The Sacco, through a Notice of Motion and Memorandum of Appeal filed on March 19, argued that the suspension was unjust and sought immediate relief.

Pending the full hearing of the appeal, TLAB’s interim order allows Super Metro to resume operations in compliance with the law. The order has also been directed to the Inspector General of the National Police Service to ensure enforcement.

NTSA has been ordered to file its response by March 25, while Super Metro will have until March 26 to submit any additional documents in preparation for the hearing.

Super Metro, known for its reliability and customer service, is one of the leading PSV Saccos operating in Nairobi and its environs. The ruling provides temporary relief to thousands of commuters who rely on its services daily.

The outcome of Thursday’s hearing will determine whether Super Metro’s suspension is lifted permanently or upheld.
